Ethernet Cables
Ethernet cables come in a variety of styles, colors and lengths. The most common style is UTP which stands for "Unshielded Twisted Pair." The STP "Shielded Twisted Pair" version is used in environments where there may be a lot of electro magnetic interference with the signal (EMI). There are Crossover versions that are have the transmit and receive wires reversed (has very specific uses, such as directly coupling two computers together.) There are also Slim versions that are used to increase the air flow in densely populated data centers. Plenum rated cables are used in area that have a higher smoke and flame requirements.
